The Rod Dedeaux Foundation Announces Second Annual Youth Clinic
Foundation Continues its Mission to Inspire and Educate Inner City Youth -
Los Angeles, June 28, 2016 –
The Rod Dedeaux Foundation, in conjunction with USA Baseball and its Collegiate National Team, will provide LA inner city youth with professional baseball training during its Annual Youth Baseball Clinic on June 30 at UCLA’s Jackie Robinson Field, including a tribute to our Veteran’s and participation of youth baseball players of Veterans.
This event will immediately precede the annual Dedeaux Foundation Awards Dinner, which will honor the Finalists and Winner of the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, the USA Baseball Coach of the Year Willie Randolph and the Rod Dedeaux Award Recipient Ron Fairly.
During the clinic, the foundation will deliver a message about the importance of academics, leadership and mentorship. In addition, kids will gain baseball experience through interactive baseball activities taught by top college and coaches and players, as well as professional legends. Kids will also enjoy lunch, music, autographs and taking pictures with athletes, including Team USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team.
“Aside from learning about baseball, kids will learn to apply what they’ve learned on the field about leadership into their academics and life,” said Executive Director of the Rod Dedeaux Foundation Brett Dedeaux.
In conjunction with USA Baseball, the Rod Dedeaux Foundation is a partner and supporter of the Golden Spikes Award, which is given to the nation’s top collegiate player and aired on ESPN. Besides recognizing the country’s best amateur players, the award provides a goal for these young athletes to attain.
The Youth Clinic began with Rod Dedeaux’ spirit of giving and his passion for baseball,
“I was raised on a baseball, rather than a rattle. It’s a love, it’s a religion”, Coach Dedeaux once said.
