The winner will join an illustrious list of recipients, which includes 2016 World Series MVP, Chicago Cubs' Kris Bryant, and standouts such as Bryce Harper, Stephen Strasburg, Buster Posey, and David Price.

During the award evening, the Rod Dedeaux Foundation will also present the USA Rod Dedeaux Baseball Coach of the Year Award to 2017 honoree, George Horton, of the University of Oregon. In addition, the Rod Dedeaux Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to the winningest coach in college baseball history, former University of Texas Head Coach and 5-Time National Champion, the legendary, Augie Garrido.

Proceeds from the Rod Dedeaux Award Dinner support amateur baseball with an emphasis on youth baseball and softball programs in the inner-city, field renovations in underserved communities and providing the necessary equipment to play.

"It was always his philosophy that the ability to teach the game of baseball is the ability to sell it. If you believe that what you're doing is worthwhile, you'll succeed."
